Hey all. I treat my nano with peroxide for BBA that grows on my crypts and anubias. It usually pinks up right away and then dies, and my shrimp and otos munch it up. But I've recently noticed BBA growing on my Xmas moss, and I tried once to inject it gently with peroxide but it basically killed the moss itself. Any ideas on how to get rid of this stuff from Xmas moss?

What is your circulation like in that tank...how mayn gallons per hour are moving and what size is the filter body in relation to the tank?
How's it possible to absolutely eradicate BBA? I think I have some on my rocks, too! And the moss has shrimplets in it so I wasn't wanting to throw it out... but I may have to.All bleeding stops eventually...

The threads I've seen in the past where all a person's algae problems went away...after all the potions, etc...were where they started focusing on circulation. Keeping powerheads free of debris, having plenty flow to all parts of the tank, and having a large volume for bacteria coloization. I've read that the recommendation is to get as close as possible to 8-10X your tanks volume per hour flowing and have a filter with a capacity of 10% the size of the tank it is filtering. Then there is the flow arrangement...inlet and outlet on the same side of the tank to get a circular motion...(a gyre? )...movement.

i have an eheim 2028 on my 75 gallon with in and out on the opposite ends. after talking with ek, i started running a powersweep powerhead at night when the lights go out, complete with aspirator. the extra flow has made a big difference in the buildup of deitrius even though my main filter probably isnt big enough. the sweeping mothion of the powerhead gets it pretty turbulent in there and since it is on the same side as my intake i am getting that gyre affect. since the fish hunker down into the rocks and plants once the lights go out, it doesnt seem to bother them. i want to say that bee is trying not to have too much flow in this tank tho if i remember right. i am having a similar debate with myself about my 10 gallon.75G Standard - High Light Planted Community Fish
