Cool! Maybe list some of the equipment and fertilizers that you plan n using? What are your plant type goals? BTW, the plant on the far right (hornwort) will grow fine like that but dont become dismayed if it doesnt root....its typically a floater. Its also great for new tanks because it grows like crazy and will help keep algae in check. You may also find that the gravel is a little large for some stem plants. At this stage the more plants the better until the tank is established. Look around HFB for inexpensive cuttings and stuff the tank, you can always pass on what you dont want once the tank is stabilized.

+1! Get some more and stuff that tank full!! Good start...I like the wood and those are good choices for starter plants. Annubias, java ferns, and amazon swords do great for beginning tanks and will work well with angels- that's what you're planning, right?

Congratulations on starting up your first planted tank! It can be frustrating at times (algae, algae, algae), but once you get things balanced, it's very enjoyable and rewarding.

+1 Also, depending on the plants you want to grow, you'll find a substrate for planted tanks will help the plants grow better.

+1,000 On this note, I cannot agree more. Newly setup planted tanks usually do better when stuffed full of plants from the very start than when planted sparsely, even if all you do is add in a whole lot of hornwort as a filler in the beginning.

I can't wait to see how you scape that driftwood once it sinks on its own. It's a really nice piece!

Yes! MOAR plants! Maybe get some very tall ones, like vals, to give the tank some depth. The mistake I made when starting my planted nano was not planting heavily enough to start off with.
