  • What can I add?

This is my tank (see pic below). What plants can I add? Tank is 110 gal. Light is large Marineland LED. Filtration is Proclear 175 Wetdry and FX5 and power head is Korelia 1050 gph. I do not want to add CO2. 7 discus, lots of tetras, rams, corys, plecos, and shrimp in tank. I need height and maybe color. What plants can I add?

Silk plants from the hobby store.

There's barely any lighting from what it looks like.

Phone camera pic. much brighter than looks. LED lights though via marineland ~36" light. I just pulled out all the fake plants since I like the look of real plants better.

Tank looks really tall, the only Marineland LED I think would be capable of sustaining life in such a tall tank would be the Reef capable and that would probably be low demanding plants.

There's silk plants that look just as nice if not nicer than some live plants I've seen in some people's tanks.

If that is double bright LED, crypts will likely survive. There are many types of crypts; some common taller ones include: balansae, spiralis. You would be advised to use root tabs though.

Different java ferns would also make it. Anubias.

Beautiful tank. I have a tall tank as well, a 105 gallon that's 30" deep, with LEDs plus twin T5 bulbs, and my very tall vallisneria are barely surviving, even with liquid ferts and excel and root tabs. I'd say go with crypts and anubias like everyone said, unless you're thinking of upgrading your lighting.
              All bleeding stops eventually...

Crypts are what I think I have in there now. May just try and find more. Where would be a good store to pick up soem of these plants? Thanks for input.

I would personally order online, but if you insist on brick and mortar, fish gallery, fish ranch, and aquarium world have the best plant selection I've seen in town, in that order.

ricks 'grass' is jungle val and it would probably do okay. discus live in grassy areas in the wild and would appreciate it, it grows well in sand but doesnt appreciate overly soft water. yes, what you have in there now are crypts. anubias and java fern can get impressive when covering a branch like yours. since you have a wet/dry...co2 would be out of the question anyways but you could always think about using flourish excel and getting another light fixture. 9000k LEDS would prolly work great on a deep tank, or so i have read.

as for where, aquarium world has a recent shipment that is nice. fish ranch II and fish gallery are also great places, as lihn says

I was thinking crypts, as well. If you can't find what you want locally, maybe give these guys a try. I've ordered from them with good success on their crypts.
