Stag horn algae. Shows up during ammonia spikes.

I had it show up when my filter crashed and I lost the biomedia. Dosing with excel and amano shrimp knocked it down until the bacteria established again and it has never been back. It grew like crazy at first though.

Is the filter cycled? What is your ammonia reading at?

Ive had it in my tanks it goes away after a while. Shrimps and snails eat it...

Well the filter has been on for a couple of weeks now. I don't have a test kit. I may just be adding too much food lol...

I would look into the cause and not the affect. You may want to pick up a cheap nh3 test

Spot dose it with excel, staghorn has been one of the easier algae to deal with IME.

test kit wouldn't hurt to have... And excel can kill pretty much anything lol

yes it is easy to deal with and excel works well on it but while i was comparing notes with Complexity about it she related that she has always had it triggered by an ammonia spike. that is my experience too. its probably just your biomedia reestablishing and will go away once that happens but just keep an eye on it.
