  • trimming wisteria

is it ok to trim wisteria all the way to the rooted bottom, I just want to cut it and not really propagate it, it is growing so fast that I assume if I cut it all the way down it will branch out is that correct?

I have cut it off at about half inch to the substrate and it grew back with more stems.

Normally you trim below where you want it to grow to when fluorishing... At least when you want to achieve the perfect scape.

I got one stem from a guy and it has baby wisteria's around it. Kinda slow though but very pretty

With enough nutrients the stuff grows like weeds!

Just means your water is too clean phung!

              +1

This stuff likes dirty water... root tabs make it grow like a mofo too...

any hygrophila that i have used is a nitrate sponge, i like them but sometimes they can get out of hand unless you limit nitrates. most stem plants will get bushier if you cut them back although there are a few, like some of the more rare pogostemon and limnophila, that dont like being trimmed.

I had to do major trimming, it was so dense it looked nice but it was getting to the point that it was a mass of plants and not really a planted aquarium.
