    Re: Livebearers Paradise!

Personally, I like a bit of "off balance".  If everything is equally balanced, sometimes it is kind of boring.  Maybe something green in the far back empty corner would improve your view?

Well the "weight" of the scape is off to the left but it's too flat on the far left of  the actual scape....just needs something to draw away from the dead area there and towards the main scape.....

I will be looking for a piece of blackwood tomorrow or the following day and update with what I am trying to do. I thought about adding some sort of Val behind the dw or possibly even some eleocharis vivapara which would look awesome but to stay with the low-tech it will probably be Val.

corkscrew corkscrew comeon and add corkscrew. since it is a lower tank those would do best i think (but you know me i love Vals   ) any will do (jungle might be crazy though) anyway it looks great. On the background i have done several things in the past. I tend to go with Black for most occasions but have tried a few things with smaller tanks that just dont need that behind them. I tried a fishing calendar picture behind a tank once (that looked super cool, it was a painting of a Bass) and then another time i put a book with a picture of the Sydney opera house behind a little ecplise tank. that looked cool too. But i like to put something different behind the tanks if it isnt going to be black. that way it is not something cheezy. like say a saltwater reef tank background behind a freshwater tank. In most cases a single color will make everything show more in the tank because there is more contrast. I might have to try white in the future just to see.

            Re: Livebearers Paradise!

Nice layout for a start, bet it looks great after it grows in.
I like 25% heavy cover for the fry.  Some at top for when they start eating, but most at bottom for when they are born.
'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

                Re: Livebearers Paradise!

This is actually another tank the other planted tank is being re-scaped as soon as I find some good hardscape material. With the co2 I am actually picking a tank and regulator today which is going to be a spare so if anything I can just use that

PP, I don't plan on breeding in this tank and whatever does breed will stay in the tank. The goal of this tank is to have a bit of everything in it! all my other tanks tend to become species only or if at most 2 species which is cool and all but I want something that I can just buy whatever and throw into it.

                  yea, its a personal problem.
give me 2 fish and I have to spawn them.

Got to where I would only buy 1 of each type of cory just so I couldn't

                    Re: Livebearers Paradise!

I understand that.....I have several tanks that are like that.

In this tank I will be holding my male guppies that I plan to play with, gonna toy with this genetics thing. All the other will be on their own! Survival of the fittest!

                      Re: Livebearers Paradise!

Well the tank went through somewhat of an instant cycle so I will be adding fish this weekend! I have two HOB's that are on two different tanks as back up in case the cycled tank gets disrupted........

So many cool fish out there that I want to get! Hopefully I can wake up early and stop by FishRanch before work to peep the scene some more!

Anyone see any dwarf corys or even panda corys around town?

                          Re: Livebearers Paradise!

Pet World in Baytown had red swords(with red eyes), hatchets, and a BUNCH of different mollies. They may have had the Embers, but I don't remember. I think Aquazoo has the cories and hatchets too. I'm pretty sure I've seen most, if not all, of the stuff you're looking for between those two stores.

Are red swordtails the deep-orange colored ones? Or are there actually red ones out there? I have a few of the orange ones.

I still have your panda cory I got from you, but I like him too much.

the tank looks good, but i do agree with you - there is a little bit of "dead" area that would look nice with something - looking forward to see what you stock it with, are you considering any exotic livebearers?  is there such a thing?

I think the swords were a really dark red-orange. Pretty cool looking.
