  • 12 Gallon Long, iwagumi style.

After seeing what everyone was doing with theirs and the cool shape of the tank I had to get one. I just got my other tank set up too, its been less than a month and Im already dropping down too much money on this new tank, oh well life is short.

Still trying to decide what I want to do with this tank, I haven't kept fish in a while, so I definitely am leaning towards minimal iwagumi with more swimming space and really short foreground plants.

Just got bored and set up a hardscape quickly just so I could snap some photo's. These are probably the stones Ill end up using but not the final hardscape layout, still working on that.

    Equipment list so far:
    Mr Aqua 12 Gallon Long
    Brightwell Florin Volcanit Rio Escuro-XF
    Some cheap T5HO dual 36" light 78w
    Seiryu stones
Got a custom stand coming in tomorrow as well.

    Planned Flora:
I am gonna be using pretty much exclusively e. hydropiper as my lawn, and maybe some s. repens.

Dusted off my macro lens so I could take some pictures. My soil grain is average 1mm just to give you a size comparison. Some pictures of e. hydropiper:

    DAMN NICE!

I love those tanks and it's got great potential in the right hands!
Your scape is Nice! I like the first two pics better though, add to that first set of pics and I think it will be amazing once the flora grows out!

What plans do you have for Fauna?

Thanks! Yeah The hardscape isn't set in "stone" yet, but I definitely like all the stones on one side better. As far as fauna, I miss having fish, and I just set up my ada 45-p less than a month ago after not having any tanks in over a year and a half, I have 2 now in less than a month. Damn addictions, this ones is costly.

As far as fauna, Since the 45-p is going to be CRS begot from bikeguru, I want this tank to house probably small school fish. I was thinking neon green tetra's or maybe rasboras brigittae. What are some other cool nano schooling fish? I used to have rasboras brigittae they dont school that much, just a little.

        Here's my future CRS home:

Thanks man! Yeah, I really like long tanks in general, this one has some cool dimensions. I already spent too much buying stuff for it, and I still have to get a canister filter and probably make a custom spraybar and stuff, but I will have plenty of time for that. I am gonna dry start this tank for about 3-4 months. My lease is up in december, I may not even flood it until after I move so plenty of time to plan and for things to grow in.

Haha, yeah I am really impatient too sometimes, but thats why I have the crs tank, atleast I have something to fiddle with and look at while this one grows in.

Dry start is still cool, you get to watch it grow out still but not wait as long as submerged

Nah, its not, just common lace rock in that tank, inert. And in this tank, im probably gonna do either painted fire reds or red rili, havent decided yet... maybe even tiger shrimp like those orange eyed black shrimp.

I believe lace rock would cause problems equivalent to seiryu or whatever it is people are selling these days.

With the PFR or Rilis you will be fine though.

Lace rock is inert (sometimes stuff that isnt lace rock is sold as lace rock) but real lace rock is inert, just like lavarocks. (not the calcium carbonate rock)
