finally got around to watching all these. very inspiring. although expertly arranged, none of the plants are truly demanding so this could be a good go by for beginning design. i didnt see if the staurogyne repens made it but that might have been the most difficult plant? i have to say that all of the 20th anni gear that they were pimping are uniformly lame. my favorite thing was perhaps the idea of the graduated back lighting behing the grasssland and stones. i wonder how he filtered the blue? layers of diffusing cloths or with lighting angles?75G Standard - High Light Planted Community Fish

you can get a large sheet of etched glass in a graduated opacity that highlights the waves of blue?75G Standard - High Light Planted Community Fish

I have to agree with you. I think he kept the plants simple for longevity of the scape and maintenance purposes. The gradient blue and white lighting used for the background was very nice but that technique has been used by many aquascapers. Just look at the aquascaping contest results and you'll see it used quite a few times.
I have to admit that having a group of people to do your every bidding would be nice. If I'm not mistaken his people maintain the scape as well for the Sumida Aquarium. The 20th anniversary gear pretty much looked like crap. Looks like they tried to make them look cool like everyone are mindless immature adolescents.

ah but the some of the gear was titanium! do they really sell much of that stuff? japans economy isnt even as good as ours, from what i am told, and hasnt been for a number of years. i am curious what the average japanese planted tank guy is really using. amano must have made a mint here though, i saw about 36 grand solar fixtures at least! can you imagine what he charged for that stone, the tons of anubias, and all that substrate lol.
i had to lol when he decided that putting lava rock on top of dense stryofoam wasnt a good idea after all.75G Standard - High Light Planted Community Fish
