Java moss grows great submersed. I'm not sure about willow moss.

Try it! Worst thing is it will dry out and you are at step one again. I have some moss attached to the outflows on my HOB flters. I would consider it half emmersed & half submersed. Its always wet, but still in the air.

I know I've seen java moss used on the Dendroboard forum viv builds, but not willow...it won't hurt to try, though!

So I did a quick search, since you got me curious....!

And actually came up with a few people who have used- and liked- it! Also, riccia and flame moss. I'm seeing peacock moss mentioned, too. Who knew?

Anyway, it's a great site, even if you're just looking into vivs. Check it out!

hmm, the pic from one of those post shows the willow to be browning...hopefully it is sustainable. i think its survivability will be strongly dependant on the humidity...so i am thinking up a water feature design for sure.

i think i used to go to the site back in the day, god knows what my password is lol

thanks for that link, that tank is great but i dont see much willow moss growing in there. he is dry starting the mosses and not showing that he is sustaining them in a emersed state. the fissidens seems to have grown pretty well though. with the tank sealed like that, i doubt crabs could flourish either. still now one of my fave tank builds. that dude had sick patience, 18 months to grow the mini pelia alone!
