Local Terrarium / Vivarium Plant Retailers

I am pretty disappointed with the same four plants that all the chain home improvement stores are selling so i am looking for some good places to try. Roy suggested Another Place in Time downtown, any others places to add? I havent made it to a Houston Garden Center recently, but historically i havent found much there other than cryptanthus bromeliads.

The best places I gave found are... A place in time and corneleous nursery, over by fish gallery

so that would be the cornelius on voss? Have you been to the one on I-10 and dairy ashford? its actually close enough to hit during a lunch maybe

Another Place in Time - Great shop with the widest overall selection of anything you are looking for. Broms, ferns, mosses, orchids, oddballs...

Buchanan's Native Plants - Seems to have a different supplier and has a decent selection. Shop is kind of snobby, but decent

Joshua's Native Plants - Cool little shop that occasionally has some cool stuff, great outdoor bird atriums, definitely worth a stop.

Orchid Express and Leasing - Does occasionally have micro orchids and can get about anything in. Terrific selection of Vandas. You can buy or rent and return when orchids lose their blooms.

Those are the spots I go to when I'm looking...

i will report back on the cornelius at I-10, there were some on my side of town but i guess that they have closed.

It is kind of weird as they are all in 5-10 minutes from each other and the rest of Houston seems woefully absent...

perhaps joshua was once in with buchanan? the heights does have a pretty ecclectic mix of people. i hear theres some crazy invertabrate lover out there who looks like dimebag darrell

Hmm, I don't know... I know both have had stores for quite some time. Not sure if I ever met the Dimbag Darrel look a like, pretty sure I might remember that as they are not a dime a dozen

i live within walking distance of cornelius on voss, so if you want me to scope it out for anything in particular i can do that, i walk by it all the time

+1 for Another Place in Time. I love that place. Superb service & help with terraria. Excellent variety of terrarium plants that has varied quite a bit since I started building them in January (which is cool because as the year has gone on, I have had different ones to try out and work with). Buchanan's is okay/not bad, but definitely 2nd to Another Place in Time. They are literally down the street from one another (on 11th) so you might as help hit up both while in the Heights.
