Ok my question is should I go with young plants or should I get more mature plants? Also not sure if I decide to go with discus should I get juvies or should I go with adults.

Juvies do better in bare bottom tank because they grow faster in pristine water.
Adults require less frequent water change and do quite nicely in planted tanks.
If you want to grow out the juvies quickly you are gonna have many messy feedings and siphoning leftover gunk is easier accomplished if the tank is bare.
Saying this, however, many people have grown out discus in planted tanks. Bare is just less hassle

+1 adult discus. adult plants...
if you have time and you like to watch the way it grows in. You could do juv. Plants. But the discus unless you know what you are doing you will stunt or even kill juv.s with adults you get to enjoy what you have put together...Nothing Kills Evil Like a Sharp Stick...

Another vote for heavy planting and adult discus. Make sure your tank is completely cycled and stock slowly.

i dont like the necessity of bare grow out tanks so i vote adult discus. as far as plants its about biomass. you want to stuff the tank so you will be best off to get many plantlets or a lesser amout of mature plants. either way, the more the better. discus can be shy so at least a couple large plants can make them feel more secure.75G Standard - High Light Planted Community Fish

what size aquarium is this? the swords and vals will grow / multiply pretty quickly so that will help. most stem plants also grow quickly.75G Standard - High Light Planted Community Fish
