  • My Secret Aquarium....

So I set this up a couple of months ago. I had some guppies that I needed to move to another tank, but knew my wife would kill me if I put another tank in the house. So knowing that she is not an outdoor person, so this would not affect her. At first I was worried about the heat, but decided to do it anyway. I have a colony of around 30-40 guppies of which only 3 are adult. The rest are all different sizes of fry and juvies. They have adapted really well to their home and am surprised at how well they are doing even through how hot it has been lately. The plants get morning sun but shaded by the overhang on the house for the hot parts of the day. I change out 20% of the water weekly but have never tested any params. I feed the guppies every other day and the plants get lily tabs every 2 weeks. Just wanted to share.

Very nice. No more natural than that. I bet they are happier than being in any fish tank.

Not sure how many gallons. If I had to guess I would say around 15-20. The guppies, Iris, water lettuce and duckweed were all bought at the auction earlier this year. April, I think. I picked up the lily at a fish store near city pets(I think it's called fish and pets).

My wife finally saw it a little while ago, but it took 2 months to realize it was there. :)

I have feeder guppies my pond... Never feed them... The Mosquitos do the feeding for me. When I need some for my Oscar, I just sprinkle some food on top and they go nuts for the food and I just scoop them up with a net

Wonder if there's a clear pot similar in shape to this one. Seems like a very cool thing to try

Don't think a clear pot would work... Alge would do it in. Best thing would be to just put in a small pond in your yard, it's actually easy
