LOL it'd be plastering the fry against the wall! The HOB is temporary until I can find a 2211. I might just end up buying a new one since it seems like nobody has one or they're hoarding.

I like them too but they don't seem to be as active as some of the other ones I've seen

I have a zoo med 501 running on the tank but it's looking pretty cloudy. Hopefully it'll clear up soon. Need to cut the intake bar and spray bar to have a better fit. How should I go about cutting it? I was thinking of using a razor.

It'll clear up.... put some of those majic beans in there.

With cutting the plastic, it all depends on how resilient it is. A razor may work. You can try heating both the razor & tube for an easier cut. Use a flame for the razor & hot water for the tube. If the plastic is too tough you may need a small saw. Some times a steak knife or the like will come in handy. Just need something. With teeth to remove material. A PVC cutter would also work.

I only got two bags of magic beans and they're in my canister on the 100g. I'm gonna get some more for this little can. Not sure how I want the chambers set up yet, but right now I just have the ceramic ring media Jeff (Totenkampf) left in there and a coarse sponge I took from my Penguin filter.

I have no clue how resilient the Zoo Med spraybar and intake bars are. I'll try heating the razor and tube and hopefully it won't shatter on me. I have steak knives and a PVC cutter if the plastic is too tough.

Intake is on the right with the ceramic rings and return is on the left side with the sponge. There's barely any change in flow when the prefilter sponge is on the intake and the coarse sponge is on the return strainer (inside of the canister and in the sponge).

I might go with the current set up but stick a bag or two of purigen on the bottom of the coarse sponge and load up the other side with more ceramic rings with a small layer of batting on the top.

Go for it! After Roy recommended it, I looked up some reviews and there were bad but mostly good reviews. Seems like the bad ones were people who were complete idiots. I like it so far and it was a steal!

The tank was much more cloudy before the filter was on. I took off the HOB last night and took the sponge out causing the tank to get cloudy. I rinsed off the sponge and cut a slit for it to fit in the canister. The tank is much clearer now than yesterday.

Lol, I saw Jeff selling that and glad it found a good home, it was tempting me badly.... I love the versitile filtration, spraybar, and sizing for that filter. Looking forward to seeing it all crystal clear once that gets all settled.

So your tylomelania are not very active? Not sure why that would be. Mine are usually always going... I have noticed the Orange are a bit more active. Starting to get a few too many in my little Sulawesi biotope though....
