Why do my plants turn brown at the tip of the leaves??

  • #2
Possibly too much light, lack of CO2, or they are getting readjusted. What kind of plants and when did you add the plants?

I added the plants 2 weeks ago. I'm doing 8hrs of photoperiod and it's DIY co2 the color on my drop checker is greenish. I'm looking to buy a regulator soon. I'm also EI dry dosing macro and micros.

in the first pic you have some java fern, it may get holes and brown if the water chemistry changes from what it was growing in. newer leaves should be fine of all is right. it does like to be mounted on wood or rocks though, its roots are for anchoring itself only and may rot in the gravel. what is your nitrates at? thats what some of the other browning looks like. the anubius will grow algae like crazy if theres too much pollution. you may need to get some water tests going. also make sure that your DIY CO2 bubbles into another bottle half filled with water before going into the tank. if the yeast or sludge from that gets into the tank then it could cause pollution.

with these plants, i would do away with the co2 altogether. mine grow great without it.

                    2.5g- ramshorn hatchery
6g eclipse- yellow shrimp, chili rasboras, yellow apple snails
29g- geo grow-out, angels, 12"fire eel, dwarf frog, apple snails
45g- jade sleeper gobies, native killifish, feeder endlers

                    75g-
2 oscars, parrot, silver dollars, albino channel cat, syno euptera, bichir, baby jaguar, convicts, yabby
                    125g- fahaka puffer, rainbow shark

They look like they're just adjusting considering how easy going those plants are. What kind of lighting do you have on there?

Uh... yeah... what happened? 5 to over 80 is a huge jump that can't happen within a couple of days unless you just dumped a whole can of food in there
