In the tank there should be zero RCS....if its blotchy then it needs to be culled cause those are low grade CRS that have been put out by the others.

        Re: Planting Marsilea Minuta.

I read somewhere that Marsilea Minuta will grow on driftwood. Anyone have any luck with that ?   I had a little that I picked up from City Pets when I set up my 20 GAL planted tank, and I had it in a corner, but it wasn't doing so well.  So, yesterday while doing a water change I pulled it up and wrapped it around once spot on my driftwood.  The MM is about an inch wide and 4 inches long. I tucked it into a couple of crevices in the drift wood, so it won't float away.    Am I wasting my time trying to get it to grow into/on the driftwood ?

It might....one way to find out.

From the growth I have experienced the rooting isn't as strong as anubias or ferns.

            Re: Planting Marsilea Minuta.

I got 3 bags of it at the auction for rock bottom price. Now I hace to go see Jeff & Mike at ADG for some new soil. After I get it set back I will take some pics of it.

If you can ever get some plants from any of the members at HASH you better jump on it. As they allways have the best plants around.

Heehee, HASH. You're not promoting illegal plant sales, are you, Walter??

I set up my new betta's tank last night, and I think I'm planning on having only the marsilea I got at the auction in there, with some driftwood. Hope it does well. I have some in another planted tank, and it does grow pretty slowly. So it was nice to get a handful of it rather than wait for that small amount to spread.

I've heard that, too, kidslikefish. Don't remember where, though. Maybe I'll try it, as well. Keep us updated! :)

Ek, thanks for posting this, great info!!

                Re: Planting Marsilea Minuta.

i will say that while it is getting settled it is super easy to uproot, especially with a lighter or smaller grain soil that it seems to like. Im sure Herman (SHelley's dwarf clawed frog) has a little something to do with the uprooting, but he really really loves all the room he has in the 29. When it all grows in i will have carpet of MM on one side and shrubery or crypt parva on other 2/3 of forground, probably wont be able to see gravel in the front in a few months.
