    Use a cup and set it on the bottom. Then pour the water into the cup gradually so the water overflows along the side of the cup. That's how I do water changes in my planted nano tank to avoid disturbing the scape

      Yeah I do that in my other tanks but the cup I use is to big. Maybe I will use a shot glass

        Just a question on the orchid, did it make it? The long white strings are the core of the root. Orchids are tree dwellers with their sensitive roots exposed to air. Never seen a phalenopsis orchid live long when roots too tightly packed, or with roots that stay wet.
        If yours is working and living then I have learned something new.
