Plants for a African Cichlid tank

What kinda plants survive in a African Cichlid tank with sand?

The one plants I've had luck with in high pH and sand are anubias. That too, I had to add root tabs. They really didn't like the high pH for a while though. Were in shock, yellowed leaves, etc. but they bounced back.

We keep Anubias (quite a few different varieties, some are quite different and could comprise an entire tank), Java Fern (again, many variants), mosses (many variants), and Vals (Corkscrew or Jungle). There are quite a few more that can occasionally work, but depends on how badly the fish treat them. Non-Herbivorous fish allow more options, while the opposite limit them extensively. Floaters are always another option as well.

My anubias hastafolia and coffefolia did not do well. The nanas and petites did just fine. Weird!

I've found that applying small plant pots to their roots helps keep them safe from digging cichlids. :)

We hide them behind the rocks and heaters. Not many diggers other then the multi's in our Tang tank, so just avoiding their territories works out well
