That is definitely not cyanobacteria. Cyanobacteria is one of those ones that can be induced in a few ways. Many times, when I see it in people tanks, there is either a large build of DOC, or nitrates have bottomed out. The latter sounds contrary, but cyanobacteria can fix nitrogen from the atmosphere. Interestingly, after removing the BGA, maintaining cleaner water, and dosing nitrates, the BGA shouldn't return.

Limiting your plants resources that they need to survive (fertilizers, light, and co2) is only going to give you more algae problems. If you grow healthy plants, you likely won't have algae. Clean, clean, clean, and maintain a dosing schedule with good co2 levels.

        10 days later......
Ok, lights complete shut off, co2 shut off, stirring the green blob, and a water changed everyday has cut down most of it considerably. I'm about to trim down the UG in this tank since it's been growing more upward towards the window due to the lack of lighting. I've added about 15 amanos to finish off the job, also added 10 guppies in this tank. I'm winning for now, but let's see what'll happen I go back to the regular routine.
