Ah thanks for the tip. Looks like I need to buy a second heater. The jager 150w won't even get the water to 84.

I can sell you my 300w eheim jager if you want it. It's sitting in my sump unplugged. It works well and only had it for about 6 months. I'm planning on upgrading to a 800w titanium heater towards the end of fall.

yeah 150W is a little too weak for 75 gallons. Just make sure that you have ich though, if you are sure just buy another 100-150W heater and run 2 of them in that tank.
it could be the salt particle stuck on your fish slime coat. you should always premix before you drop anything in. You can always try to use QuickCure or just turn your heater to 86 degree as ich cannot live at that temperature. Sea Salt will also kill ich but not necessary if you turn the temps up that high. I used salt because I have goldfish but your tank is mostly tropical so it's fine to turn the temp up. Just do it slowly. But make sure it is ich before you do anything.
Do you also premix your dry fertz before dosing? Also will carbon media remove the epsom salt and fertz?
carbon can remove some fertz, though it generally disregards most salts. I never run Carbon in any of our tanks. It acts as a sponge for Nitrates and some fertz and releases them back into the water column when it reaches saturation. I'd suggest going with bio media and throwing the carbon out. Purigen at least serves a purpose for filtration and the space is much better used in that regard.

yes premix everything before you put it in the tank, be it fish med, fertz, salt, epsom salt. If it is ich the easiest way since you have a tropical tank is to just raise temperature up. Since your heater is only 150W, you should get an extra 100W to 150W anyways because 1x150W will not hold your tank in the winter time. or just get with steven on the 300W heater. at 86 Ich cannot reproduce, and at 89 they die. Also, Ich needs constant live fish host to survive or they die, so at 86 since they cannot reproduce they'll die off in 3-4 days. Threadfin Rainbow is really funky fish =d...
And don't use carbon in your tank, use purigen. like Roy said
You don't have to premix the dry ferts. A lot of people don't. I bought a mixing container because I didn't want to go measuring the dry ferts every day. It is very critical that you even off the measuring spoon. Even a little extra will raise the ppm significantly.
get like an ozarka water bottle, whenever you want to dose anything in the tank, get some tank water in there, throw the stuff you need in, close the cap and shake like bartender then pour it in the tank.
Directions
Rinse before use. Use in a fine mesh filter bag. Each 1 L treats up to 4,000 L (1,000 gallons*) for up to six months. Exhaustion is indicated by a pronounced discoloration of the beads to dark brown or black.
Regeneration: Soak in a 1:1 bleach:water solution for 24 hours in a non-metalic container in a well ventilated area and away from children. Rinse well, then soak for 8 hours with a solution containing 2 tablespoons of ChlorGuard™, PrimeŽ, or equivalent dechlorinator per cup of water. Rinse well. Original color and full activity should now be restored and PurigenŽ is ready for reuse. Caution: some slime coat products may permanently foul PurigenŽ and render regeneration difficult. Do not reuse if odor of chlorine is detectable. In case of doubt, soak beads in small quantity of water and test for residual chlorine with a chlorine test kit.
