  • Filterless shrimp tank with plant?

So... I feel a bit tempted to start a shrimp tank with some common, fast breeding shrimp to have a life food treat for my fish. I'm getting a pea puffer soon, so I'd like to start a shrimp colony before I get the puffer.

The little tank I have laying around is only 2 gallon, so I'm planning on having plants in there with no filter. maybe dwarf chain sword and a clip on CFL would work?

I don't see why not if you have enough plants it should work fairly well... here is a thread on TPT about filterless tanks well pics of them.

My 1.5 is filterless. People breed shrimp in buckets with no plants. It can be done.

We kept a 1/2 gallon flower vase going with cherries breeding and only 100% weekly water changes, easily doable with a water change schedule dictated by parameters.

Gonna find a small clip on fixture for the tank then get it going , maybe pygmy chainsword or moss at the bottom, and asian water moss on top.

Cherry shrimp. If you already have it setup, Amano shrimp produce more offspring.

Baby Amanos wouldn't run off in time. Amanos would produce much more than cherries, but it takes a lot more than tossing them in a tank and letting nature take its course.

Do it! I think cherry shrimp are your best bet...super easy.

This. Minimal effort for great results.

I thought Amano offspring require brackish water to mature to adulthood?
