55 Gallon Tank

First started out as a tank full of goldfish

Got rid of all of them and wanted to make a planted tank.

Setup

Lighting: 48in. Current USA Satellite+

Filtration: Aqua Clear 50 Aqua Tech 30-60

Substrate: Eco Complete

Flora: Java Fern, Windelov Java Fern, Needle leaf Java Fern, Trident Java Fern, Dwarf Sagittaria, Cryptocorne Undulata, Cyperus Helferi, Rotala Green, Rotala Najenshan, Didiplis Diandra, Wisteria, Alternanthera Reineckii, Rotala Macrandra Red, Lysimachia Nummularia, and Hygrophila Pinnatifida.

Fauna: 35+ Pseudomugil Signifer, Pseudomugil Gertrudae, 3 Albino Bristlenose Plecos, Brown Bristlenose Pleco, Black Kuhli Loach, Blue Velvet

Nice, nice... I like the goldies too much to get rid of them for a planted tank. So I compromise.... I have a planted goldfish tank!! Looks good, just needs to grow in some

Indeed. Goldfish is gone for now but in the future i'll have a nice setup for goldies. No where near completed yet

Make sure and tie your java fern to wood. Does not like to be planted in substrate. Eco complete is very porous so it may be ok, but normally you want the roots tied to wood and exposed above the wood. It may look nice now but may eventually rot.

Also one thing to realize with eco complete is that its nutrient content depletes fairly quickly. Might want to pick up some root ferts sometime in the future. Good start!
