My planted tank is progressing slowly with easy to care plants. Now I wanted to start covering the ground with plants,I want an easy to care grassy type of plants or any suggestion would appreciated and where to find it?
Depends on your lighting and substrate... are you looking for a plant that stays really low and hugs the substrate like a carpet or a plant that 4-5 inches tall and looks like grass?
Yes,I'd like the one's that looks like a carpet.I just started using MH yesterday and I am monitoring the results.I have a feeling that I am putting to much light cause I'm using 250W MH x3 hence my tank is 180g 6'x2'x2' (used to be a reeftank). This is the second day that I ran my MH for 4hrs no more other supplement lighting.I've been using pressurized CO2 via a diffuser.Any thoughts from the experts??? Thanks.
What's your substrate... sand, aquasoil, etc? I am no expert on these high tech setups, so you'll probably get better answers from people who have one. Have you looked at Glossostigma elatinoides or Hemianthus callitrichoides? They'll carpet fairly well with your lights if you have the right substrate. Getting a true carpet can be a pain though... a dry start would make it easier for you to plant and have it fill in.
So far I'm happy but I'm bothered with this small snails,a lot of them specially when the light turns on.I did a some researched and I came across with Yoyo(clown)fish but I really don't want this kind of fish cause they grow big.Any other solutions for this? Also I need more background plants so I can cover the overflow and the rest of the back side on the tank. If anyone has some clippings I don't mind paying some cash.I don't know the names of those plants so please if you think I have it already please don't offer it to me.I planted a dwarf hair grass last weekend (got it in petco) and this is my third attempt.I hope it will grow this time,we'll see.
Yoyo loaches are not the same as clown loaches. They will not grow as big. Probably around 3-5 inch. No bigger though. I have 2 and they are fun to watch
Assassin snails are also a good option. If you go to Fish Gallery or Houston Aquarium Warehouse you'll probably find really nice selections of plants. If that dwarf hair grass doesn't work out for you try microsword... it's growing well for me under T5HOs and no CO2
gamb, Thank you for clarification, sorry I got mixed up between the two.I'll think of that as an addition to my planted tank.Maybe start looking today. Are they diggers?

I have a good amount if Dwarf Hair Grass that you can have. It started floating the other day because I haven't used co2 in a while. I stay near Gulfgate if you are interested in picking some up just let me know.

I bought both assassin snails and yoyo loaches at houston aquatic warehouse in stafford. $2.50 for assassin snails and i think I paid somewhere around $4-5 for the loaches. They have good stock. Loaches do sift but nothing heavy to where they would uproot plants. I have both in my planted tank and everything is fine.
