    Re: Plants at CityPets

I like the mom. She always looks really serious, so i try to make her laugh. Its not that easy, thou.

If they were selling 1 pot for 8.99, i dont see how that big floating piece would be any cheaper. FG has 3 pots for 18$ (when they have it)

I ran by FRII today. Charles is gone, and apparently they are about to make some big changes. THe guy i talked to said they were moving and redoing the whole plant section.

Oh yea, i've never seen this LFS mentioned on here, but "Fondren fish & pets" located at Fondren and W. Bellfort. Vin is the owner, and its a sister store of Xtreme. He has a lot of sweet stuff that you wouldnt expect at a HITW LFS.

        Re: Plants at CityPets

thanks dudes for all the head up. I don't really need any more plant right now. Don't know where to put em. But, a good note for those who love foreground plants, as gloss, riccia, moss, or hc, DO NOT EVER buy the moss ball. It is just a plural form of hair/thread algae. and i can't never get rid of it once it grows UNDER my HC.

Pull it all out, dip in peroxide and replant the HC.

Get your lighting, dosing and co2 balanced and you shouldn't have much problem.....I am running a 70w Metal halide on my Mini-M which is about 5g's and I don't have algae.

earlier i said that there was 1 pot of HC priced at 8.99. same price as the "baby tears" and "giant baby tears"

Do you dilute the peroxide or full strength? how long does it need to stay in there?

              Re: Plants at CityPets

Honestly I did try hard to get rid all of thread algae forming under my HC mat and failed. However, now i starting enjoying their presence. You know what, I just found about 10 babies CRS/bee shrimps this morning. I quess thread algae can create an "underplant" shrimp cave.

I would dilute the peroxide down some probably 50:50 mix and about 10-15mins of soaking. But that will only kill off what's there so if you have a nutrient problem in your tank it will return.
