I get 80-90% of my plants from ebay. Make sure whoever you buy from includes an ice pack. With the way our temps are rising, even with a short delay you could end up with melted plants.

Thank you! One of the sellers I was looking at seems to have an excellent reputation. I'll be sure and ask for the ice pack when I do order. Great tip! Just can't believe the prices! Petsmart has the moss balls for almost $9 each, LFS has them for about $6 each but, ebay has them for .99 each. Java fern for about $4...and on and on with great prices.

Thank you again. I'm going to have to get another job! LOLOL

I've window shopped on ebay for plants, & it seems to me that most of those really fantastic bargains are from overseas. When you add the shipping $ required to the ebay listed price it's not so fantastic after all. Not to mention the fact that overseas shipping at this time of year would probably result in finding a box of "goop" delivered to your doorstep.

I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade, here, I was disappointed myself when I realized the total cost, shipping time etc.

All that said, I have ordered ebay plants, and from US dealers that pack with cool/ice packs and bubblewrap (extra insulation). If you are within reasonable distance of your local UPS, FEDEX or USPS terminal, a good idea during hot times is to ask to have the package held there for you to pick up instead of letting your box of plants tour the area inside a hot delivery truck.

Sometimes it seems that you just have to order at least out of state to get particular types of plants.

Good idea about picking up at the terminal.

I guess it's always a gamble of sorts... the odds against you just increase with high/low temps.

sfasu> did I get Plants from you? All the plants I have are from other members here. I'm not even sure what all the plants I have are. I have killed lots of plants in the past. Now I do pretty well. I haven't killed a plant in a few years. It was important to me not to spend to much as I was learning on a low budget. I could never afford E-bay.
Now as some nice people here helped me with plants. I give back to other learning. By giving plants.

troy - Ive givensome away a long time ago, but nothing within the past 3 years or so. Most of my plants are slow growing, or the trimmings get replanted in my tanks or my moms.

Bety777 - Just thought of something. Check out ADG some time. They have a bunch of different and rarer plants that come over from Europe. Some really nice stuff. May cost a lil more, but high quality and no shipping disasters to worry about.

Thank you so much! I hadn't even thought of that. If I order any I'll definitely stick with US. You probably just saved me some hard earned money.

Killing them is why I want them cheap. I also want plants that don't need anything but light. Do I have to wait awhile before I add plants to the newly set up 10gal?
