This week iv tried frozen food to mix up their diet, I got the freshwater multi pack with 4 different kinds of cubes. Seems most of my fish and ghost shrimp really like frozen brine shrimp. They didn't care much for the others though. Kinda cool watching them go nuts over the food. I'm still keeping up with their regular diet just adding a little extra to see how they do, after all they deserve a treat now and again. Got a surprise yesterday, I'll try to get a pic of it but my anubias barteri is growing a flower. Just a single bud but still pretty neat.

its getting there but you see the algae issue. I wonder if I can take a an old toothbrush to the leaves to clean it off without damaging the plant.

Do you have BN plecos in the tank?
They would clean it up nicely.

No plecos. I got nerites, sae, and amano as my algae eating crew. Nerites are the only ones that are kinda eating it, they prefer diatoms though.

assassin snails have kicked some major butt iv noticed...cant seem to find one pond snail, mts, or ramshorn. They seem to be after their own young so I guess im at the stage they are starting to level off.

yes once the food supply starts to dwindle for their numbers, they will prey on eachother to level out the population. as long as there is enough algae and excess food, they tend to stay content.

keep an eye on the assassins with the nerites. although the nerites are larger, i have heard of them ganging up on larger snails and harassing them

I worried about that too but so far I havnt seen them messing with my nerites. I changed filters last night and Im still getting rams horn in my filter. not as bad as before but there are rams horn someplace in my tank.

well you know if they ever venture into the main tank...they wont last long

i just removed the nerites first. and when i got my dwarf puffers moved them again cause i heard of even those guys pecking at the foot of a larger snail until it dies.

tough life being a snail i guess
