    Re: lighting

I have  moonlights on 2 of my freshwater tanks. Its a nice way to view night time activity and it is very pleasing to the eye.

    I have a 10g planted. I use a Tom Aquatics flourescent bulb (28 w i think?) with a 6500k bulb in. It works great...

        Re: lighting

If you are a handle person, build a hood with 36W compact flourscent.  That's what I use on my 10 gal tank.

I'm just using the ones that came with the fixtures themselves - like the moonlights on the Current Satellite fixtures. If the fixture doesn't have moonlights, well, then that tank doesn't either.

              Re: lighting

Why not put the lights on a timer? That way you can set them to come on after you leave for work, and they'll still be on when you get home.

I have moonlight stips on my tanks. And I also have my tanks on timers. When my white lights go out my moonlights come on. I never have to worry about turning them on or off. And I love the moonlights. I brought them off ebay. Some were special order and some were pre-made. It gives off quite a bit of light. Here is a link: http://stores.ebay.com/Led-moonlights-4-less. I order 3 different times for this person. You can even pay a little extra and get dimmers for the moonlights or you can choose different colors.

woa, that's a good idea to have bamboo in your 10gal tank. I could never grow them, they just kept turning yellow and died.
