you got it. it seems that the older taller leaves decided to turn to mush but i have so many new ones sprouting i dont mind. a lot are showing some nice bronze and red color in them too.

Greatness, thanks. Do you ever have a problem with little holes in the leaves? I know that can be a sign of crypt. rot, but usually that would be followed by melting, which mine don't do.  :think:

Mzungu, That "African Fern" you brought the the last swap, that Scott bought all of then gave me a piece. Should that be planted in the substrate, or on a piece of driftwood, or a rock or something? It's in the substrate now, and the tips of the leaves are starting to wilt.

If it's bolbitis it has a rhizome which shouldn't be buried. It does best attached to driftwood or rocks. Its roots are slower to attach than java fern. The same applies to java fern. Its rhizome shouldn't be covered.

went and checked out those other threadfins and all they had were males and males that didnt have fins so looked like females.   :(

the ones they had there were really beat up and poor looking, nothing like the ones i got from mike over at sunny's. wish i could find me some females.....

sorry they much have been pretty pciked over because the tanks were full when i was there. but that was a couple of weeks ago. and yeah the ones at sunny's were good looking just smaller then the ones i got.

well i bit the bullet and got a couple f new pieces of driftwood from village that i liked the look of, because the others i fund would not sink(even after weeks of submergion, and boiling) the two new pieces are already sunk and they look great will have pics in the next couple of days. i also got my cherry shrimp colony started. it should be producinbg young soon (hopefully) anyway i will have those pics soon for you been busy because school just started on top of work

I got some large pieces from village as well, the large malaysian driftwoods. Sinks right off the bat but I decided to boil mine a few times to limit the tannins leech into the water. I ended up boiling three different pots of water and it still was pretty dark.

if you notice the difference bewteen the vals in the earlier pic and this one the change is quite dramatic. you can also see one of the runners coming out from undernieth the far right piece of wood. tell me what yall think of it. oh and it appears my alge issues are all done havent seen any stag for a few days but will keep my fingers crossed

I really like it! I love the contrast between the wood and the bright green plants behind it, they seem to be doing really well!! I also like how the darker plants (the val, the darker/browner colored crypts) are on the sides, whereas the lighter colored ones (anacharis, anubias, is that wisteria?) are right in the front, but behind the wood. It really makes you look at the whole tank, IMO. Nice. The Vals look great, by the way.  :emtthumbs:

Nice, very nice.  I'd like to have some of those corkscrew vals.  I think the plant I have that sprouted a bloom last week is like your crypt lupens. I picked up two at the last HAS auction.
