The Red Temple I bought at the last HAS auction seems to be loosing too many leaves.
Is this a light or fertilizer problem ? Or both?
'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'
I run 2 Daylight Power Compact Fluorescent Lamps - 10,000K - Square Pin 65w for 11hr/day
with sandblast sand and lots of fish poop.

I ordered some several months ago when I set up my 100 gallon. Everythign else did okay, but even though it was a rooted bunch, it dwindled miserably unto crap.
Bob, I brought that Red Temple to the auction. It was grown in high light/co2/fertilized tank. The lamps are 6700K pc and 6500K no fluorescent. I have it in other tanks of med lt./excel/fert in which it does ok, just not as vibrant in color and prolific of foliage.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.
Yeah the red temple can be a little tricky. The bunch Mark gave me ended up dying when my hood went out and I had no light for over a week, it just never recovered. I have found though that it likes good doses of iron in your ferts to help with the leaves and color. 8)
