I just got a 29G 12x30 that was posted on here. I am torn between what kind of lights I should get for it I want to have some good bottom plants to grow. Since the obvious size problem of being a 30" tank I was thinking of going with a 24" set up with either a 130W $60 or I found a 250W $110 on Ebay. Is it worth going with the 250 is my question I guess?

For the win....
If you what the hairgrass I would either go with halide or t5ho's but any of the three will work. You are gonna need a good amount of lighting that is evenly distributed across the tank and most are gonna require you have co2,ferts, etc.700g Mini-Monster tankComment

What do I need for the setup for a CO2 that wont kill my wallet. I was told to go to beverage mart to get a tank for cheap but what else do I need and where can I get it?Comment

If it works it will do the job.....but just sitting on the legs might not be ideal since the light expands and having it a bit higher might get a better spread throughout the tank.700g Mini-Monster tankComment

More is better, you can always turn it down but you cant turn it on for more than 7-24

For the CO2, you will need the tank itself, a regulator, and some sort of diffuser. The problem with those regulators at beverage mart are that they are manual. You cant plug them in to an outlet and put them on a timer.ADA mini-m planted

With that light, co2 and ferts you should be able to grow anything.

I need to get some more money and get a good CO2 unit. I have been out of a tank for about 8 months and I have that itch and I am going head first into this tank one of the smallest I have had but I want it looking nice with a great plant coverage. What else do I need and does Dan have good stuff for the CO2? I have heard great things about his place and it isnt to far from my new place.Comment
