thanks for the compliments ya'll. edmlfc, i'll take them and hold them till you are ready to get them back. hey i have a ideal. get a 300 gal rubbermaid. it will never crack and flood. inside or out. JGUERRA, The lights are on. it was about 9pm when i took the pic. they are not real bright. they are 22" t8 plant grow lights.(2). EK, lets throw them pods in there! nitrates have sky rocketed 40 to 80 ppm. did a 50% last night & a50% tonite. will do a 50% tomorrow and see how it goes. phishphreeks post said it takes about 3 weeks for the mangroves to kick in, winter may not help this progress?200

I think you will have to keep doing water changes cause the mangroves will not be able to keep up just slow it down.
Also the more plant mass the faster/more efficient it will absorb nutrients.700g Mini-Monster tankComment

nitrates were up because theres been a dead catfish in there for a week. found it this morning. with the plastic on top it was starting to stink! did a water change this morning. wanted to do one tonight but these kids keep coming to my door asking for candy. they are dressed really strange.
