So I want to start a planted tank – this will be my first. I have a 29 gallon eclipse like this one - http://comfortfirst.com/p-36077-ecli...arineland.aspx

I am thinking of chunking the hood (holds 2 lights and a filter) and getting a new light and filter. So I looked at a few options for lighting and I would like so of your opinions please. These are the ones I am looking into. Please let me know what you think! Thanks!

if you can get any of those and try to get a dual light system with 2 Power compacts and with regard to lunar lights they are kool to look at at night but ultimatly useless

Why are you buying the Eclipse if you are ditching the hood, Thats what makes it an eclipse. Why not save money & buy a tank light & filter separately?

if theres an alternative without lunar light, i'd go with that one mainly because theyre usually less expensive and like shance said, useless.

on another note, it aslo depends on what you like. the 6700K and the 10,000K will look different. The current and the Coralife 24" Aqualight Power Compact Strip Light have actinics which will make your tank have a bluish tint. Mine has it and although it took some acustoming to it gets the job done in growing plants, and that is ultimately your goal.

Yes I guess I will be. I will let you know when I will be getting rid of it. The tank currently has a goldfish in it, so I can't give it to you just yet.

If the Eclipse tank has the same dimensions as a standard 29 gallon tank, you'll want to look for a 30" light instead of 24".  Coralife has a 30" 1x65w 6500k light that bigalsonline.com usually has for about $65.
