  • My 5.5 gallon tank

Hello all.  I thought I would show you my current 5.5 gallon tank I started recently.  It's looking pretty plain right now, as I have just recently planted it.

    5.5g AGA tank
    ~12 lbs Eco-Complete
    27w 6700k PC Lamp
    AquaClear 50 HOB filter

    2 Red Cherry Shrimp

    Eleocharis acicularis
    Hemianthus callitrichoides
    Blyxa japonica

Not too many fancy pictures yet.  Is it normal that the site only lets me add one image to this post using the [img] tags?  It's a pain to attach them all...

      looks really nice
keep us posted as it fills in
i love the liitle nano planted tanks, they are very fun to work with.
i have found a very inexpensive planted tank substrate, it works almost as good for me as my eco-complete does, it is home depots aquatic plant substrate, its vey light, i a 10lb bag gave my 10g a 2.5" depth. its only $3.70 a bag 8O
it works well, i have it in my 50g hex, and the plants are thriving.
      just a heads up.

        Re: My 5.5 gallon tank

I just love simple layouts like this- it lets the plants stand out and gives them room to grow.  It will look even better once it starts filling in.

Are you planning on putting in any fauna?

BTW- the best way I've found to post pics is to download them on photobucket, and then copy the img and paste it here.  Seems like alot of work, but it works :)

can't wait to see how this grows in. I love the grassy field like look of dwarf hairgrass once it carpets.
and for the pictures, you could also use www.tinypic.com to upload your pictures if you do not want to make a photobucket account.

                Thanks for the comments.

As far as the pictures go, I have my own hosting, but when I put 6 [img] [/img] tags in my post, when I previewed it, only the first picture displayed, and the rest just showed the tags with the url's.

The flow is pretty high, but it's not really that bad.  I have the flow selector moved over into the lowest position, and with the sponge over the intake it's not too bad.  The shrimp can swim around in it without being blown all over the place, and it's not uprooting the HC, even when freshly planted.
