  • Can I get a CO2 refill on a Sunday? What about tomorrow (holiday)?

Hi everyone! This is my first post here. And it's about as common as it gets. My CO2 ran out, and I need to get it filled.

I have already read the thread on APC. It did not answer my questions.

What I want to know is if there is a place that can do a CO2 refill on Sundays? If not, what about tomorrow being a holiday? Will I have to wait until Tuesday before I can find a place open?

I'm hoping to find a place close to Sugar Land (SW Houston). There is a place in Rosenberg, AOC I think, but they didn't answer their phone yesterday. Anyone know what the normal business hours are for places like this?

    Thanks, in advance.
    Vicki

The only place I know of that will be open and will fill is either fish gallery or city pets but neither do it by scale.

What do you mean "by scale"? Meaning they don't weigh it?

I'll call both places to see if they can do a refill today, how they do it, and their prices. I just recently won the battle over BBA in my 75g tank and now my 29g tank has BBA and Clado! So I really don't want to leave the tanks without CO2 any longer than I have to.

If I don't get the CO2 today, I'll try AOC again tomorrow.

        Thanks for the help!

You could fend it off with Excel for now if need be and yes, they don't use a scale.

I'm out of Excel. I just ordered a huge 4liter bottle of it, but it's in transit.

I am treating it with H2O2 which is knocking it back where I do the treatments. But to really fix the problem, I need to get the CO2 in check.

I wonder what they'd do if I brought my bathroom scale with me? LOL! Okay, maybe not. If they aren't too expensive, then I'll take what CO2 I can get for now. Any is better than none.

City Pets is out of CO2 until next week.

Fish Gallery has it. $20 for 10lbs. And you're right, they don't weigh it. So I could get shortchanged.

They close at 6pm today so I might be able to make it before then. If not, then I know I can get it tomorrow.

Thanks for the leads! With so much talk about welding supply and home brew, I didn't even think to check any of the LFS.

Thanks, finfan! I decided to wait until tomorrow to see if I can get the CO2 at AOC. I think they will do a better job. Besides, if I go into a LFS, I know I won't be able to resist getting more fish, and I would really rather not set up my Q/T right now.

Thank you beaver24 and manifresh006. I'll go on Monday to refill all 3 of my tanks. One of my 20lbs tank's expiration date already expired, does anyone know if these guys care?

AOC supplies CO2 for what seems like mostly welding operations. A 10gal. tank only costs $10 to refill. It is in the Richmond/Rosenberg area.

I don't know if they refill, but I bought a tank there for like $80 bucks, and it is only $10 to swap it out for a tank that has about 90lbs. of pressure.
