I was trying to find a good MH light fixture and since the ones I see are 150 or 250 I was going for 2x 250. I am currently running 368w on it now since I added a 108 light strip to boost the wattage.

I like the Coralife Pro with 2x150MH and 2x96w 10000K. You can use your MH for 4Hrs and then turn off the MH and still using your pc lights. If you wanna go with the 250MH is better but imo with the 150 you can grow anything .

        Try www.fishneedit.com

Everything that I have read on APC is good. I personally have only bought their MH bulbs (150W 8000K) and love them, perfect color for plants and good balance for fish. The price can not be beat and the MH are interlockable with the T5 fixtures. the only problem I can see is that they never have the MH & T5 fixtures at the same time.

I like the Coralife but if I am going to spend close to 1K then I will start my new African tank. On the APC would you get the two 150W and connect it to 2 of the 4ft T5 lighting for a total of about 500W?

One other question what significance does the K rating play on plants which is better?

K rating has a big effect on plants. Like it you are too high or too low the plants will not grow at their optimal level an you will have a tank that grows algae better than plants. The typical accepted window is 5500 - 12000 k. 5500k would be only acceptable in low light conditions. Most people use 10,000k as it is readily available. Some prefer the 6500K as it will show the fish better. I have found that the 8000K (a similar k rating to ADA bulbs) has a good balance and my plants love it.

Yes the Fishneedit lights are interconnect-able. That to me is the beauty of the system, upgrading does not mean replacing the whole system.

I love the 8000k Fishneedit bulbs!

I have been running them on my 125g for a few months now and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone!

Not sure of the fixtures though since I don't own one of those, I am running their bulbs though in my 3x150w coralife fixture.
