You should join NASH if you haven't already.Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

Yeah I was at Dan's on Saturday and was chatting with Kevin who tried to get me to join. I plan on coming to the meeting this Saturday. Although I just realized I forgot where he said it was going to be.

I will be there then barring unforseen circumstances like the wifey planning something that she supposedly told me about.

Get rid of the Lime stone, and not for the ph reasons most people would give. Yes that argument is valid, but the stark white rock draws the eye directly to it and takes away from the overall scape. The wet dry filtration will make CO2 hard to keep at an optimal level. Try to get it to be more wet than dry. The gang valves do not normally go well with CO2, the plastic gets brittel from CO2 exposure and you will be dealling with leaks all of the time.
yeah it is ther at Star, I have since posted it on HFB
You guys are funny, some of you sound like you have really gotten bit by the planted tank bug. Join NASH, come over to the green side. We have a lot af great things going on this year.Last edited by kwc1974; 05-06-2009, 02:45 PM.Houston Areas Aquatic Plant Society

I guess I havent updated but I got rid of the wet/dry and I am running an Eheim on it now. The rock is there to hold down the driftwood but I guess I can find a black rock. I dont want the driftwood but since this is technically my wifes tank she got the final say so. What is gang valves?

Oh I just figured out what you mean. No I do not have a gang valve it was temporary. I bought a metal spliter.

I have determined that I need a new light system for this so I need to get one soon just so expensive for the output I want.

someone referanced a gang valve to split the CO2, i believe on page one. If you need some darker rocks I think we can hook you up.
What size Eheim are you running? Any updated pics? Did you plant the Glosso?

I will update pics today or tomorrow depending on when i get out of work.I am running the 2217, I did plant the Glossos. I was thinking about 5 watts a gallon. What do you think more or less?

any reason for the 5 wats per gallon. Don't get me wrong I am of the opinion that more is better, but some would argue that 5 is a little high. Unless you have updated, you currently run about 2.8 W/G. It is a 90 gallon so I am assuming a 48x18x24 tank. With 5 watts you should be able to grow anything.
I have a 75G standard, and only run at 4 W/G. I have the Coralife pendants MH and have raised the lights about 9" above the tank. My tank has a great marselia minuta (kind of like glosso) carpet in it, so it is getting more than enough light.
What light fixture are you thinking of? That may answer the 5 W/G.Houston Areas Aquatic Plant Society
