Okay, I have to comment on this. ) Speaking as someone with an 8 foot 240 gallon, I can honestly say that, yes, it will start to look smaller. But I think it's going to take more than a week. Eventually it will start to merge in with everything else in the room and not seem as though all the other furniture came out of a dollhouse...I promise.

And tell your hubby that the next time HE wants something that you aren't completely on-board with...he'll be able to remind you of the time you kept the enormous aquarium.

Maybe it's freaking me out because it's empty and it looks like a mobile home right now.

CF I sure hope your right. I haven't looked at it for two hours, I was scared. I just took another look and I'm pretty sure it hasn't gotten any bigger.)

Complexity, I think it's all of the above. I was prepared for a 5' 200 gallon tank. Her house is pretty large, mine is much smaller, the tank did not look that big in her home.

Thanks Zulaab that's a great idea. I have lr in the other sump but I never really thought about keeping a clean up crew in there.

Ok I think my nerves and getting calmer. I keep telling my self it's just 12 more inches! Seeing it next to my 156, it makes the 156 look like a 55 gallon.

gg, I had no idea that you had a 240 or a tank that was 8'. It blends well at your house. I guess I need to put things in it. When I start adding stuff it might not look so big. Should I start with patio furnitur? j/k

I think the stand being taller and the color being brown and red may be making the whole thing seem even bigger.

It's going to be fun once you get it setup and see how much Elvis likes it. The tank itself will then have some depth to it so you'll be looking through the front glass instead of at it.

Definitely keep a journal on this one. You can call it Elvis gets a mansion!

well, i know that it's late for me to say anything.....but i think that Steve is right about this one.....it won't get any bigger than it is right now.....and once you get the rock in there and all the filtration, water....ect...... then your going to love it....

how awesome for Elvis.....he's going to be so happy in there.....and remember...he lives with Snowflake.....so there is a possibility of having other fishies in there with him at some point...it's not a total loss of possibilities.....

congrats Lissa...i'm very happy for you and Elvis....

Actually Daisy died last weekend. I'm not sure what happened. She stopped eating and 3 days later she passed away. So Elvis is all alone.

So when are you going to start the journey ?
I would say setup your sump and everything that goes with it.
I would work on getting everything below setup. You will need to work on getting a light over the sump too, so you can grow some algae down there for the clean up crew which you should install down there. You have a picture of the sump ?
