  • Mixing freshwater puffers

So I definitely want some dwarf puffers. But I enjoyed watching my green spotted puffer before he passed away. Is there a big (~6 inches) freshwater puffer that I can mix with dwarf puffers? If so, where can I get one? I'm really tempted to get another GSP but I don't want to have to worry about the whole brackish thing.

This is a really great thread that lists all the FW puffers that I've ever seen. :)

Freshwater Puffers, Brackishwater Puffers, Saltwater Puffers. No matter what kind of puffer you have, share your stories here.

To add, though, most puffers aren't known for playing nice with others. 8)

Yeah I know... I'm a sucker for bad decisions... but I'll have a divider to put in the tank if needed. So where can I find a South American Puffer, SAP, Amazon Puffer, Brazilian Puffer? That one seems like the best decision.

The short answer is "no" different puffer species should not be mixed.

AquaZoo just got in a shipment of SAPs. $11.99 each and there was a dozen in there. They are sociable and like to have others of their kind, not mixed though.
