So, I have my son's brackish tank set up at 1.005 s.g. and the search has begun for his new friends with no luck. He wants a husband and wife, (he's 11) but since there's really no way to tell I won't tell him any different, lol. I am prepared to separate them should the little boogers decide not to be friends, but still maintain them within the same tank. Everywhere I call says, "Nope sorry, dont have any." Ugh. I called City Pets and not only do they not have any, they dunno when they will. :( Petco, no. PetSmart doesn't carry them at all. Fish Gallery is out. Fish Ranch II, no. Little ratty fish store close to home, no. Finally....Aquarium World, yes!

Try Extreme Pets on Bellair Blvd. They usually have a few varieties of puffers. I have gotten a few Green Spotted Puffers (GSP) and Fugu’s from them. I have a tank with about 5 gsps and a few Archer fish that do well together. The size of the gsps are from 2 inch to 5 inch long. I ended up taking the fugus back. Even though they are smaller than the gsp, they are very aggressive. I also got a Fukuhara from them about 6 months ago and he is at least 6 inches long now. This type of puffer can get to be about 20 inches long, depending upon the size of the tank and how much you feed them. I have mine in a 55 gallon tank by himself and feed him blood worms and feeder fish. He literally begs for food every time I walk into the room. He has lots of personality and really acts like a puppy. If you want a puffer that will interact with your son, I highly recommend the Fukuhara. The last time I was at Extreme Pets they also had some black spotted puffers. Based upon my experience of mixing gsp and the Fugu’s, I have not tried any of the black spotted ones. I have a feeling anything I put in with the Fukuhara will end up as fish food.

We bought a pair from Aquarium World. Our son has named them Nicole & Jackson. They're tiny! Nicole is probably an inch and Jackson is tad bigger. I also ordered some Ramshorn snails on eBay & they will be here Wednesday. They're currently acclimating in their bag & will be released into their new home soon. Our son was so excited about going to pick them out, he fell asleep on the way home, lol. Thanks for the advice & offers to help, everyone!180g - 2 Red Oscars, 1 Tiger Oscar, 1 JD, Convicts, convicts & more convicts
75g - 1 Silver Aro, 1 Mean Koi Angel
50g - Various platy & mollies
10g - 1 Green Spotted Puffer

I'm not a puffer guru like some of the folks on here. I tried to goggle Fukuhara puffers and only found out that there is a researcher named Fukuhara that does research on puffers. Could you either point me to a link on Fukuhara puffers, or clarify if you were refering to a Fahaka puffer (Tetraodon fahaka) or the Fugu puffer (Takifugu ocellatus (seems to be the most recent name) ) or one of the other puffers used to make fugu (the dish).
Thanks in advance.
While I'm not reef ready, I am salt ernate lifestyle curious...
