Sorry for the bad phone photography, just thought I'd share. Had him for over a year now. She named him flounder. Has killed every tank mate we've tried (all of which were much bigger) except for the 8" pleco housed with him. They're buddies.

This little guy has been a PAIN! haha. Was about 1" long when purchased and about 6" now. I made the mistake of spooking him while trying to move him to his current tank, and that beak hurts! Drew blood in fact!

An Avocado puffer? or maybe a Fugu? any better pics when not submerged, very cute and I am certain that beak beats skin every time, lol

Flounder? Super cute name. I am waiting, hoping (!) not to get bit by my fahaka, she has absolutely no fear of nets or hands at all. When I rearrange or clean the tank, she wants to come over and see what I'm doing, it makes it very. slow.

Old photo, I'll try to take some more tonight. She said the petshop (xtreme) had it labeled as an Orange Saddled Fugu and that it was purely freshwater. She brought it home, put it in my 55 gal and it took out half my firemouths that were double it's size. It would go out of it's way just to kill goldfish and rosie's (bite them I half and let the halves wriggle) just to kill them. Wouldn't even want to eat them. Only fish that stood it's ground was a 9" peacock bass I took in off a friend of mine!

Hey man im not 100%percent sure but if that is fugu puffer the experts say he should be in brackish water then eventually full marine idk im no expert just wanted to tell ya that ..who knows he may live perfect in there forever

What I've read over the past months: fresh as a juvie, then brackish when he matures, then possibly full marine. These things supposedly live for 15 yrs and grow to 29" so I don't know exactly when he matures, but so far so good I'm fresh. I toss in Alittle salt every other water change, but just a tiny tiny bit.

Another puffer that buries in the substrate. very cool fish and he looks really good.

As much of a headache he's been, he's a pretty neat fish. Was in my 55 gal till I sold it, and he's in a 36 gal bowfront until we get moved. His next home is a 125 gal sittin in storage. I don't want to break down any large tanks to move so the 36 is my biggest up and running tank. The 125 will be brackish setup after I slowly acclimate him to brackish.

Unfortunately the figure 8 puffer she brought home a few months ago didn't make it. Found him floatin last night in his 29 gal tank. Unsure what the cause was.

The F8 wasn't the healthiest looking fish to begin with. Didn't expect him to make it a week, let alone 2-3 months. Shes content with flounder so I think we are good on puffers for the time being.

Although when I was checking out aquazoo, they had some kind of puffer that looked like a fuzzy piece of kelp or something that I wanted!

I hear you. Puffers are addictive, in some strange and horrible way..!?! I thought I would be content with the Fahaka, but then I ended up with a dwarf puffer in a nano tank deal and I am absolutely hooked, I'm happier with it than the fahaka. (Shhh.) They stay small, same cuteness/ intelligence level, they are good with plants and shrimp...We've got plans for a 20g planted so I can keep 3-4 of them. I will try to stop there, though! That's plenty of puffers for us. Seriously...I mean it this time.
