With smaller puffers more frequent feedings are appreciated, but once they get near adult size allowing a day or three to pass will keep them a bit more active and focused on eating when fed and more perceptive to you as the owner.

so how much/what would i feed them when they are like 1/2" it would seem the crawfish and stuff like that would be a little to big?

I'd add some Ghost shrimp and guppies (dozen of each) and slowly add more as they are consumed.

You could also do snails... not mts though (shells are too hard). Pond snails work great

ok good cause seeing what those teeth can do i'd be kinda hesitant to put my hands near them lol. Also how fast do they grow?

None that I'm aware of. Granted, I didn't have mine for too long. Got very bored with it, very quickly.

If you feed him or her any kind of hard shelled invert. Is good for their teeth. It will brake them off a little and keep them from over growing. But not an everyday food.
Feeding yuong puffer would be like any fry. They can't eat as much.So they eat more often. Adlults 3 times a week with a treat like snails or shrimp on a 4th day. My wifes puffers let her pet them like a dog. Its the funniest thing...

Congo puffers don't eat critters with hard shells. Eating live fish is enough to keep their teeth trimmed

so you don't have to feed fish with shells (can you still feed them like pond snails?)? So i could feed shrimp one day, guppies another, silver sides another, and tilapia?

or can you keep them on like a live food only diet like guppies one day swordtails another etc...,(vice versa?)
