  • i have an aggressive pair of firemouths....

well my setup is 90g on two xp3s and the most recent update of my stock is

    3 clown loaches
    1 raphael cat
    1 albino rainbow shark
    1 geophagus brasiliensis
    2 firemouths (breeding pair)
    1 tiger pleco
    7 tiger barbs

my problem is my firemouth pair seems to be aggressive towards the others, especially my largest clown loach and the geo.....i know that clown loaches stress easily and that can seriously harm their health so i dont know what to do...i really like the firemouths and dont want to remove them but should i? i dont think they have bitten any other fish yet but they chase them all over and bump them and stuff....advice anyone?

IMO i you want to keep everything else move the firemouths they can get very aggressive, or just keep one.

When I kept SA's I found Firemouths and Pink Convicts to be some of the more aggressive. The aggression was heightened when the lay eggs. They essentially claimed half of a 29 Gallon as their own and would chase and often kill ANYTHING that ventured into what they considered their territory

remove the firemouths. All cichlids become aggressive when they want to spawn. get a 30-40gal and and kepp them seperate

dude, a full grown pair of breeding firemouths, can easilly be kept happily longterm in a 20g long or 29g tank.

they are awesome fish, just get them a small tank of there own with a bn pleco and a small shoal of pineapple swords.
