    are they fighting? the werent really being aggressive they were just latched onto each other

    They are arm wrestling fish style. It's normal cichlid aggresion. But the loser may get rejected.

      They are fine. They are just establishing dominance.
      Also, you may have a pair forming.
      Geos do this either to decide dominance or to establish themselves as a pair.
      Either way it is a good thing.
      It means they are settling in.
      I hope you have a pair,
      they are awesome to watch breed. And they are biparental mouth brooders, which means at some point f you are lucky you will see them ransfer the fry from one parent to the other.

        Somehow, I feel very lucky we humans are made the way we are. I mean, can you imagine?

          sweet lol.....i just picked up a pair of red hump geos and the female is holding....the male is super aggressive towards my other geos however and i later found out on the internet that it typical of the males...the male is now in my wet/dry. i hate to have to get rid of fish right when i get them...

            I hate to get rid of any fish. I just had to get rid of two that were making my community tank a very nervous place. Buenos Aires tetras. And they were beautiful, too.
