hey man, if you like watching oscars feed on feeders, i have a few large pikes, well only one lare 9" male left, but when they go after feeders, its like a freakin barrucuda, plus almost no one keeps these fish.
i have a $40 wc male Crenicichla Saxatilis, i got him a couple months ago at extreme, but i have grown tired of going every couple days to get 10+ feeders for him.
i also have a small red bellied pacu, his color is amazing, his reds are intense!
he eats anything and everything.
hes about 3.5"tl.
i got them both at extreme fish in bellaire, i know for a fact that extreme fish also has crenicichla lugubris wc adults pushing 1ft tl.
aswell as black line pike aka crenicichla strigatta.
i know if you enjoyed oscars, you will love sa pikes.
if you want, you can comeby and pickup my remaining pike and pacu for free.
i enjoy helping out fellow boxers:)
lmk, if you are interested we can setup a time for you to comeby and get them.FRENCH FRY!!!

btw, the pikes dont bother anything thats to big to fit in their mouths, they will not touch a green terror thats atleast 3"tl.
i had them in my 75g with 2-3" geos and they didnt bother them, so im sure if you dont get anything under 3"tl you will be fine.FRENCH FRY!!!

also, electric blue jack dempseys are extrmely sensitive to water chemistry, i raised a 1" male ebjd to 7.5"tl in a 55g, i did the research and talked to a few breeders, what they told me they noticed is that they have virtually no immune system, they are very suseptible to disease and dont do well with other fish in the tank.
heavy filtration and regualr large 50-75% water changes weekly are neccessry.
i raised mine for 2 years, in that time he grew to 7.5"tl, they grow very slow.
i was running 2x eheim 2217 canisters and had fine grain leslies pool filter sand with sparse driftwood and a couple river stones.
he did well, but i grew bored of him being in the 55g by himself, and decided to finally add another fish, he did ok for a couple weeks, but then out of nowhere, he just died, i never discoverd the reason behind it.
but this is not an uncommon occurance with these fish.
i would honestly steer clear of these fish.
they are not as aggrewssive as regular jds either, and dont hold their own quite aswell as regualr jds.
just my personal experience.FRENCH FRY!!!

I second the pike idea, just make sure you stick with the guys that stay less than 12" to 14"...and you might only be able to keep one or two of the pikes depending on aggression and the way you scape the tank.
Tater - Im pretty sure those "black line pikes" are sp. Venezuela, one of the largest pike cichlids you can get, can grow to 20". I think he is sold out now. Similar to strigata, but luckily less aggressive. Ive read strigata are now very rarely imported these days.15g column BB low-tech driftwood/planted - Dwarf Puffer Tank :lupe:
