Re: Apistogramma cacatoides
As Houston does not have the ideal water for these little beauties very few lfs in area carry them. Typically, Fish Ranch II carries a stock of Apistos including cacatuoides. I'm not sure if Charles has added any to their stock.
Another place that has Apistos is Fish Gallery...though they didnt have any cockatoos as of yesterday..though they do have a few other species. Don is trying to make contact with some suppliers but he hasnt been all that successful to date.
I'd try those 2 first. Hope that helps.

Re: Apistogramma cacatoides
FYI:  mematrix  breeds Ap. cacatoides. He is a user on this site, although he lives closer to Dallas. He has some nice stock.Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

Re: Apistogramma cacatoides
The best of the rest is in Austin..AquaTek (512) 450-0182. They have the most comprehensive stock of Apistos to be found within driving distance. Dont know their stock of cacatuoides though...They specialize in wildcaught and cockatoos typically come from breeders.
I will vouch for Curtis (mematrix). I have a pair of breeding Apisto Pebas and German Rams from him.
