did you have them as pairs or just single fish when they were killing everything else

I had three. the biggest one was 9" other 2 about 6" they were not breeding pair. Very pretty fish. I know that it could just be the one fishs temper. They are all deffrent but I will never have another one.
            Good luck on your hunt.

Ive had both good and bad...
First time I kept them ...
I bought a pair from a store about an hour or so from me..an older lady just brought them in [trade in].
I tried to buy them on the spot but they wanted to keep them for a week or so..so I paid for them and went back in two weeks to pick them up.
Once I got them home I put them into quarantine. Each in a separate 29 gallon tank next to each other.
Left them in there for a couple weeks.
Then on my birthday ...the day before moving them to the 125,,,the started acting weird and looked sickly.
After treating them for a week I lost them both...on the same day.
Made me sick to my stomach..paid a good penny for them..they were huge and I had wanted them for years.
I called the store and told them what happened and found out they were just about 20 years old..
                  I was told 5 years old..oh well.

When I first moved to Houston I was going crazy..i had just torn down my fish room in Ohio and I only brought one tank with me..a 50 breeder.
I found out about our little China town and had to go check it out.
Ended up finding and buying a Festae [unheard of 10 years ago in Ohio] And after doing a little research and some more looking around I bought 6 Chocolates to go with him.
Everything was small 2-3" at the most.
After a few weeks I bought a 75 and moved them into there. Also added a pair HRPs.
The Festae finally started growing so I moved him out.
Everything was good for about a year.
Then I found one on the floor...then another..eventually they just started to kill each other off till there was just one.
I ended up giving him to a guy with severums and angels as I moved to more aggressive fish.
He still has him and is beautiful ...just stunning.

Now the moral is they really are great fish non aggressive except towards each other..
Give them room and a few other non aggressive guys with them and they should be ok.
through in some rainbow cichlids...or keyhole cichlids...sajaca and you will have a great community.
