Good morning... yesterday I posted my Blue Diamond spawning activity in my Water Change / Hormone Growth thread. The Blue Diamonds spawned Friday night and Saturday night my Tiger Pigeon and Super Eruption Red paired off and spawned one of the 4 Eheim intakes. The Blue Diamonds are nesting on Driftwood...
OK, I did a Water Change twice Saturday both times were 20 RO and 20 tap with Prime... each time I brought tank temp down to 83F and within a few hours after WC, the temp would return to ~87F which is where I maintain my temps. Again... my Nitrates go up to 5 ppm when I add tap but by the end of the week it zeros out... all other tests such as Ammonia and Nitrate are at 0 ppm. My pH is 7.0... that said I just don't know if fry will hatch or if the will survive... but since I keep water temp higher than average... which I must say everybody in tank appreciates... (6 Discus, 3 Trapajos Geophagas, 16 Marbled/Silver Hatchetfish, 12 Cardinal Tetras, 25 Rummy Nose Tetras, 5 Lamp Eye Tetras, 1 Snowball L201 Pleco, and 1 Panda Cory)...
The reason I did two WCs in one day is because I found two perfect plants, 1 Amazon Sword and 1 Melon Sword at ADG in Houston yesterday that I could not pass up. I replace my Radican Swords last night due to longterm deficiencies that I was slowly repairing but just decided to upgrade...
My current theory is that I may be triggering spawing by bringing temps down a few degrees but never less than 83F and maintain a high temp of 87 will basic pH and excellent controlled Water Chemistry using 4 Eheims, 1 Fx6, 2 UV Sterilizers and lots of ChemiPure Elite...
Here are pics of the spawning activities... now I know that I have two pairs... there are two others that are just a little younger and I do not know the gender yet... I have room for one my Discus...

Like I mentioned before... my Discus and Trapajos have both been spawning over the past month and all are only half grown... The Trapjos nest was eaten by a Red Tail Sternella that I traded for ChemiPure Elite and maintenance equipment and my Snowball seems more timid although it lives at the base of the Driftwood that the Blue Diamonds are nesting on halfway up... its interesting similar to nature minus the black water which I draw line their... I have not excepted that look although I know its the Amazon...
I don't expect fry to either hatch or survive. I have to let nature take its course... if they attach to slime coat, then maybe it would be kinda miraculous... these pairs are trying for first time and agin my tank is a South American community... and as weird as it may sound, I has a large Rummy trying to get into a nest near the Eheim intake... the male Discus pushed him away but I never thought a Rummy would care... probably a coincidence but the point is these pairs are in protective mode... a very natural instinct for very genetically altered fish and mine are Asian strand... part of the driver behind my high temps...
I will keep posting updates. I have to travel to Kansas City for three days for a military conference but when I return I will have an update... my fiancé and her children will be monitoring status for me while away...
Chao...
