My fish hobby started June 2012 when my youngest daughter brought home a Mosquito fish from school last day of 5th grade. She was raising her in a flower vase so I went out and bought her an 8G Cube and it all began...
We raised a few community liver bearers and after about 3 months or so I surprised her with a 37G XH with an Eheim 2215 and we expanded our live bearer community for the next 4 months until I brought home the Marineland 60G 48x24x12 and a new 2217... I broke down the 37G and setup the 60G with both Eheims and added a 9W UV Sterilizer.
Later my fiancé convinced me to set up my 37G so I went out and acquired two more Eheim 2215s and another 9W UV Sterilzer, some Texas Holy Rock, sand substrate and Anubis plants... I had decided to try my hand atraising African Cichlids... this was while my 60G was raising a variety of community fish from all over the world... biotype blend. I raised young Africans from February to April 2013...
The family did not like the Africans as they were aggressive and hid inside rocks too much so I started on a new venture raising baby Discus in the 37G... I cleaned the tank, removed the Holy Rock and soften the water and off to the races I went...
Now from April to July 2013 I raised baby Discus in my 37G and learned how to setup QTs and nurse them from sickness to good health... basically I learned they need the warmer water...
OK, my final stop bringing me to where I am today was the setup of my 150G XH South American Discus Tank. I purchased and Fx6 and broke down my 37G and my 60G, used all my Eheims with my Fluval Fx6 including both 9W UV Sterilzers. I transferred all Discus compatible SA livestock and returned on-compatible of biotype species to LFS and started with a large tank...
Here is my photo gallery starting with the 37G, 60G and 15G tanks...
