  • 65 gal tall tank angelfish setup

I'm in the midst of setting up a angelfish tank and am looking for ideas as far as stock and decorations. The foot print of the tank is 36"x18"x25".

Decorations: I think that natural tanks look the best with angels. So maybe some tall, skinny, detailed driftwood, or manzanita wood. Rocks and some low light plants. decorations is all by personal preference, so Google angel tanks and see if you can get ideas of what other people have done, and are doing, and maybe start from there to make it your own.

As far as stock, you will have to find a gene line you like for the angels. Once you have found that( whether that be Koi, Platinum's, Marbles, Blue Pinoy, Ghost, etc.), then I would recommend getting 6. Start there. With the surface area of the tank not being overly large, you may have aggression issues. Then again, you may not. You have to drop down to 4 when they are full grown. As far as other stock, a school of cories always looks good with angels. pepper, Julli, Sterbei, really whatever you find attractive, and will fit in the tank with the water params, and not get massive. Then you could also do a school of hatchet fish, as a top level swimmer. I have issues with hatches, and don't keep them anymore, but that is my own vendetta against suicidal fish.

I really suggest avoiding small fish like neon tetras and cardinal tetras. As the angelfish grow, they will end up as dinner!

Good luck, and keep us updated with pictures!
