For some reason the smaller piece actually took a few days to fully sink this time around. I haven't had any tannin issues thus far, but I boiled these for hours before the last time I used them

I've seen some really nice ones but it's a hard tank to pull off here in Houston unless you just use R.O. water125g: Empty For Now

I wouldn't say it's hard, but there's definitely some issues with our tap water that would need be addressed. With a pH reducing substrate and 100% R.O., it's totally manageable. Roy has some great advice on achieving soft, acidic water

It's not hard, I'm peat bombing my 20g high blackwater tank. 30lbs of maylaysian dw - 27 gold tetras, and 7x - LDA01 Snowball plecos.
Im using a sunsun 602b mini canister 2l mesh zip up media bag, - 2l x coarse canadian peat. - hannah ph checker has read 6.1 for a constant 5 months, I do a wc every week of ~ 75%. I use purigen to offset the coloration of the water. purigen with take the tea color but leave the buffering after effects.
I also dose ~3-5ml a weel of discus buffer. But I wouldn't call blackwater hard.ELOS 120 - Retroculus Xinguensis, Geogphagus Neambi
