It is not uncommon to see clowns in Malawi tanks, but there are a number of reasons its not a good choice for either group of fish. There are a lot of really great choices that work far better. First, Synodontis Njasse which is the only Syno from Lake Malawi. If they are hard to find, go with some Tang Synos. There are a handful and some are even bred in a tank and look great. The dwarf Petricola or the multipunctatus are bothe great looking and can even be bred. If your looking for stunning, check out the granulosa... or choose some loaches that are smaller and a bit more aggressive, like the tigers or zebras. They do not get anywhere near as large nor require the larger 6+ schools.

I think it would work, but make sure you keep your tank around 80F. Loaches are susceptible to ich at low temperature. They also do better in a school of 6 minium. Feed them algae wafer. They love that stuff.

There's plenty of awesome Tangs, they're just mostly not super colorful like Malawi

Tangs exhibit a lot more social behaviors and are just different. Featherfins, Cyps, leleuipi, julies, trophs are all the more colorful stuff.

That's debatable, but I'd say Ecotech. Koralia is much more affordable and still great quality

Just try it bro. If not work out, you can always sell off the peacocks. Frontosa is a majestic specimen with long beautiful trailers, and they love a nice calm setting. Peacocks is very active and will disturb them. I used to have blue dolphin, yellow labs, red fin borleyi...with my Moba. Had to boot them all.
